The severe delays are experienced by motorists heading from Legon-Madina, and Spintex Road to Accra, Joy News' Gifty Andoh Appiah has reported.
Officers of the Police Motor Transport and Traffic Department are reportedly under pressure to manage the traffic jam that started building up in the morning.
The visiting European leaders include French President, Emmanuel Macron, Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, and Estonian President, Khersty Kaljulaid.
But what appears to be an affirmation of the confidence of the international community in Ghana has become a problem, with motorists and passengers complaining about the vehicular jam.
Myjoyonline.com understands a trip from the Spintex Road to the 37 Military Hospital that usually takes between 20 minutes now takes over an hour.
“There’s a lot of vehicles and you don’t really know where they are going [but] the police are out in their numbers to keep the situation under control," Gifty Andoh Appiah reported.
The Police MTTD announced the temporary closure of some major roads designated as ceremonial streets late Wednesday.
