Danish FM Andrews Samuelsen (2nd L) promises partnership beyond aid |
This announcement comes ahead of the November 23 state visit of the Queen of Denmark to Ghana.
To be accompanied by 39 top-notch Danish businesses, the Queen of Denmark will be in Ghana for two days to establish, strengthen and promote links between the two countries. How to strengthen social, commercial and cultural ties will also feature prominently.
The Danish Foreign Affairs Minister observed that Ghana is a beacon of democracy on the African continent. As a result, Denmark is moving from aid to trade to further strengthen its relationship with Ghana, which has assumed a middle-income country status, moving it beyond aid.
Denmark has over the last 30 years through its aid agency, Danida, supported Ghana in the areas of good governance, skills development, rural finance and business advocacy.
Danish aid shall be phased out after 2020, birthing forth a new partnership of trade.
