Former President John Agyekum Kufuor |
The Kufuor Scholars Programme was instituted by the John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation to cultivate the next crop of transformational leaders and guide young scholars to become agents of social change for sustainable development.
Ex-President Kufuor urged the youth to lend a helping hand through charity works in a bid to bridge the social and economic inequality gap.
Mr Kufuor was advising the Scholars when they paid him a courtesy call at his residence in Kumasi.
He urged the students to serve humanity with humility to ensure socio-economic development
“We need leadership in every facet of our lives. Ghana has always since independence been a leader-nation; be ambitious for humanity, but be ambitious with humility being nurtured for leadership doesn’t mean you are superior people, you are good when you extend the talent God has given us freely to the service of others to better the lot," the former President said.
A beneficiary of the Scholars Program, Aaron Atimpe, assured the former President of effective social interventions in humility to promote development.
“With the exposure and privilege given us, we are poised to supporting the less privileged to enhance their lives and ensure national development with humility," he said.”
He pledged on behalf of his colleagues not to deviate from what the JAK Foundation stands for.
