Investigations are underway at the Kumasi Academy following the discovery of deadly weapons and ammunition there.

The development has resulted in the arrest of some four individuals by the Asokore Mampong police in the Ashanti region.

The deadly weapons and ammunition include two shotguns as well as a pump action gun. Media reports show that police have picked up the storekeeper of the school and is currently assisting with investigations. "I can confirm what you have gone to find out from the school. For now, I can confirm that four people have been arrested. I want to talk to all the suspects,” Manhyia police commander, Kwaku Buah revealed.

This development follows the unfortunate outbreak of Swine Flu in the school with killed 8 students in total. Meanwhile, some parents of the deceased students said reports that were given to them by various hospitals suggest their children never died of Swine Flu virus.

According to a mother of one of the deceased students, Olivia Agyemang, postmortem results indicated that her son died of "severe pneumonia" as another concerned mother revealed her 15-year-old son, Carlos Ofori, died of “multiple extensive peculiar bleeding”.

Another bereaved mother, Aunty Yaa also revealed to the media that her son, Fordjour Ferguson, died of feverishness and thus died later on Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he died.

Meanwhile, the government, through the vice president, has visited the Kumasi Academy High School.

The school, which remains the epicentre of a recent outbreak of Swine Flu, has recorded over 11 deaths just in a year. This development has attracted severe public concern over the spread of the virus beyond the school.
