The Western Regional Fire Department is still investigating last week’s fire that gutted the 99-year old building of the Office of the Administrator of Stool Lands and Land Valuation Division.

Fire swept through the one-storey building on Sunday morning though officials have assured that all critical documents are backed up and have not been affected by the fire.

The Regional Public Relations Officer for the Fire Service in the Western Region, Divisional Officer Emmanuel Bonney told Citi News investigators from his outfit will be meeting with officials of the Stool Lands to deliberate on the way forward.

“We have been able to excavate certain things and we are now yet to meet with the occupants and meet management and see the actual activities. Everything got burnt so we want to know what are the actual things in the office and whether they worked the previous days. Investigations [into the incident] are ongoing. ”

Meanwhile, Citi News can confirm that the Office of the Administrator of Stool Land is continuing operations unabated.

The destructive fire which started Sunday morning swept through the entire building.

A lot of records and other vital documents were in the building.

The incident occurred after the Chief Fire Officer, Edwin Ekow Blankson, appealed to government to equip fire stations in the districts to enhance their performance.

Edwin Ekow Blankson said industrial development was usually accompanied by fire and other hazards, therefore the Fire Service presence in every district was important.

Mr Blankson said this at an induction ceremony in Accra to officially swear him into office as the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) of the GNFS.
