A 9-year-old was grisly defiled by a man in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem District in the Central Region and was left to die after her intestines surged.

The vulva of the girl also swelled as a result of the gruesome act which happened some two months ago according to Joy News’ reporter, Richard Kwadwo Nyarko.

Some female police officers shocked at the incident, together with some senior officers, mobilised financial contributions and took the child to the Central Regional Hospital where she is receiving treatment.

The only support system available to the victim is the contribution she received from the police officers, the reporter said.
“It represents one of the worst form of abused cases that I have ever seen in my life; you cannot watch this picture twice,” he added.
Though the suspect, said to be in his 30's, was arrested and arraigned in a court, he was granted bail after he appeared in court Tuesday, October 31, 2017.
The victim, who is still undergoing medical treatment, has not been relocated and remains in the same community where the suspect has returned to.

#Justiceforkids: Girl 15; defiled, impregnated and abandoned

In the Yilo Krobo District of the Eastern Region, a 15-year-old girl at Klo-Agogo is pregnant after she was defiled allegedly by a 46-year-old mason in the same community.

The victim, a Junior High School pupil at the Presbyterian Basic School, is now four months pregnant while the accused, Joseph Nanor, has absconded.

The victim told Joy News’ reporter Kofi Siaw that the suspect took advantage of her and committed the act when she took his 3-year-old child to him. The toddler had gone to play in the victim’s home but no one had gone for her because it was getting late.

She was overpowered by the strength of Nanor and fell unconscious after the suspect struck her on the floor and defiled her.

The case was reported to the police after which personnel from the Domestic Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) from Koforidua, visited the community once and never returned because the community is very far, the reporter related.

The accused is walking freely four months after committing the alleged offence.

The reporter said the victim still goes to school with the pregnancy despite her peers making a mockery at her predicament.

#Justiceforkids: Headteacher defiles 10-yr pupil, transferred to continue teaching

In the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region, Headteacher of Pieng Basic School who allegedly defiled his 10-year-old pupil, on March 31, remained at the post until September before he was removed from the school.

The only punishment meted out to Wiayugah Mumuni by the Ghana Education Service, is to transfer him to the United Basic School in Tumu in the same Region, to continue practicing as a Headteacher.

The victim has now been relocated to a different school outside the district, Rafiq Salaam reported from Wa.

After finishing the alleged act, the accused gave the victim GH?20 Ghana and warned her not to tell anybody about what happened between them.

The victim, however, narrated the incident to one of the female teachers at the school. The case was then reported to the police and the accused person was arrested.

The case is being heard at the Wa Circuit Court presided over by Justice Forson Baah Adjapong.

The Multimedia Group last week launched the #Justiceforkids campaign with the goal to pushing for justice for abused children.

The comprehensive campaign will educate children and adults alike with Radio and TV shows spotlighting the issue and the challenges that confront society today and shaping mindsets of the public.

Platforms under The Multimedia Group through will organise stakeholder fora that will lead to policy proposals that can be tracked and accountability demanded.

The campaign also seeks to create awareness amongst the general public and generate endorsements by notable personalities in society, speaking against child abuse.

Its objective is to push policy makers to make the necessary moves to ensure policy alignment to support victims and prosecute perpetrators.
