The President says their support would enable his government achieve the needed transformation through the implementation of the various policies.
Speaking at a durbar of chiefs and people of the Bongo Traditional Area Thursday, first day of his two-3day tour of the region, the President said his government was committed to transforming the lives of all Ghanaians.
“I will need your support. I will need your support for us to be able to implement all the programs that we have that are going to transform the lives of our people”.
He assured the Bongo Area of government’s commitment to furnishing the area with maximum infrastructure development.
Sod cutting for construction of Balungu Road, Bridge.
President Akufo Addo broke ground for the construction of the Balungu road and for rehabilitation work to begin on the Balungu Bridge. He announced massive road infrastructure for the region.
The Balungu Bridge is a major facility that links a larger part of the Assembly to the district capital, Bongo Central. The bridge also connects that part of the country to Burkina Faso and the rest of the West African community.
The Bridge since its construction some five years ago has not received any renovation works. This, according to the assembly has resulted in the deplorable state of the major bridge which brings hardship to the people as most communities are cut from access to goods and services.
The sod cutting has come as good news to the people of Bongo.
Inspection of work on ‘1Village 1Dam’
In the Bongo District, the President also inspected the progress of work on the construction of a Dam at Kuyelngo as part of the‘One-Village, One-Dam’ policy the New Patriotic Party promised the people of the three Northern Region.
The President during his inspection announced that the Bongo District will be allocated ten dams this year, out of the total of 500 that will be constructed. He was optimistic the dam will boast agriculture activities and transform the lives of the people in the area when completed.
Free-SHS has come to stay
The President stated in his address that the Free Senior High School policy has come to stay. According to him, government has injected more resources into sustaining it contrary to what his opponents have always said.
He announced that government will this year enroll 180,000 students, a double of last year’s enrolment, into second cycle institutions to enjoy the Free SHS policy. He indicated government will employ 8,000 teachers in taking care of the high student population at the various senior high schools.
Akufo Addo said his government was committed to giving the future generations of this country some decent education.
