The Brong Ahafo Professionals Forum of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) (BA PROFORUM) held its maiden end of year dinner on the January 7, 2019.

The event was an opportunity for members of the forum who live in various parts of the region to meet, socialize, feast and share ideas on how BA PROFORUM can support the formally existing NDC party structures within the region to win back power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2020 elections.

The BA PROFORUM is the Brong Ahafo Regional Branch of the NATIONAL PROFORUM which was launched on March 6, 2018, under the leadership of Professor Sam Pee Yalley who is the current National President of the NDC PROFESSIONALS FORUM and Professor Ohene Adjei as Vice.

The forum is an association of doctors, teachers, nurses, lawyers, lecturers, engineers, auditors and communication specialists among others within the NDC in Brong Ahafo whose experiences and expertise the party can tap into, on issues that may need professional advice from time to time.

In a keynote address, the Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of the NDC, who is also the former Brong Ahafo Regional Minister and Ambassador to Algeria, Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, congratulated PROFORUM for their support and contributions in furtherance of the cause of the party in the Region and admonished members to intensify their constant engagement with the leadership of the party in the Region to ensure that their collaborative effort provided the necessary strength to enable the NDC to work to recapture power in 2020.

Ambassador Nyamekye-Marfo lamented the gross lacklustre performance of the Nana-Addo government over the last two years, especially in the management of the economy, the creation of sustainable jobs and the poor prosecution of the free SHS project.

He bemoaned the huge loans that the NPP government contracted in their two-year-old government amounting to over GHc50 billion, but has virtually nothing to show Ghanaians in the form of provision of infrastructure, the serious social and economic hardship Ghanaians are going through under the NPP administration and the upsurge of corruption within the last two years of Nana Akufo-Addo’s NPP government.

Ambassador Nyamekye Marfo indicated that in the face of these difficulties Ghanaians are enduring under the clueless NPP administration, the NDC remained the only hope for Ghanaians and therefore urged the PROFORUM members to exhibit hard-work, commitment and vigilance so as to return the NDC to power in 2020.

On the part of the former Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Justice Samuel Adjei, he observed the NPP will not lose power in 2020 on the back of their abysmal performance but by the keenness of the NDC party agents at the polling stations across the country.
